The Lake Ridge Chorale is a charity that supports charities. Through fundraising events, support from partner organizations, and donations at our concerts, we raise money and collect non-perishable foods to donate to the local charities we support.

Our Charity Partners

As our mission states, we not only strive to serve our community through our chorale music, but also by giving back to local charities by donating concert revenue and non-perishable food.

 

Each year we choose new charity partners. Our charity partners are:

ACTS

Since 1969, ACTS (Action in the Community Through Service) has provided services to Prince William County residents with the mission to alleviate hunger, homelessness, and domestic violence. Programs include a large food pantry and thrift store, the Hilda Barg Homeless Shelter, and Turning Point Domestic Violence Intervention Program.

Kara Foundation

The Kara Foundation was established in 2008 and was named for Woodbridge resident Kara Lalumiere, who lost her battle with ovarian cancer in 2006 at the age of 23. The foundation recognizes the hardships encountered by young adult cancer patients who must travel to undergo treatment at major cancer treatment centers. Support and lodging is provided for the patients as well as their parents and families. Presently, they are involved in a project with Johns Hopkins Hospital called "Kara's Place."

H.U.G.S.

H.U.G.S (Help Us Grow Strong), is a community 501(c)3 non-profit organization which helps provide to the basic needs to the homeless of Prince William County, many of them living in wooded tent communities. Hugs has also become associated with the "tiny house" movement in working towards building affordable housing so those in need may have a secure and safe place to live.
